Although a more advanced topic, this is the most obvious place to discuss custom events. On a first reading, you can probably skip it and come back later. In addition to different event classes supplied by wxPython, you can create your own custom events. You can do this in response to data updates or other changes that are specific to your application, where event instances are required to carry your custom data. Another reason to create a custom event class could be to support a custom widget with its own unique command event type. In the next section, we'll walk through an example of a custom widget.
